This Sunday, 26 September, is the feast of Michaelmas, when we celebrate the archangels. Owing to covid restritions masks need to be worn inside the church building and all singing must be done wearing a mask. There are two masses on Sunday: the 8 am mass which is just a simple said mass taking around 40 minutes, and the 10 am mass, which is a sung mass with hymns and incense, taking just over an hour. There are masses every day except Monday, Fr Scott’s day off.
A small group meets on Tuesdays for mass at 10 am, then a coffee up the street and an hour of gardening for fellowship.
Our next meeting will be on Saturday, 9 October 2021 at St George’s, starting with the mass at 11 am.
Our next Sunday study will be on the last Sunday of September, the 26, at 11.15 am. This will be led by our Lay Reader, Timothy Hender, and conclude the study on Ephesians.
Every month, usually on the first Friday, we remember at a special requiem all those whose year’s mind falls in that month, the recently departed, and any others for whom prayers are requested. The next monthly requiem will be on Friday 1 October at 8 am.
Mass in Time of Pandemic
One the second free Friday of the month we have a special mass for those affected by the pandemic, the safety of our friends and families overseas, especially in India at this time, and give thanks for our protection. The next mass will be on Friday 8 October at 8.30 am.
The Lodge Service
Once a month we hold an Anglican service in the local nursing home, The Lodge, at Wayville. Our services are usually the third Wednesday of the month at 11.00. The next service will be 20 October.
Our next meeting is Sunday, 10 October, after the 10 am mass.
Cell of Our Lady of Walsingham
Every month, usually on the first Saturday, we have a special mass in devotion to Our Lady. Our parish has a special devotion ot Our Lady of Walsingham, the famous pilgrimage site in England, and has a wonderful statue of Mary in her role there. The Cell meets next on Saturday 6 November 2021, at 9 am for mass.
Our next meeting is on the 19 September, 2021.
